On Air - On Site is a sound investigation of a temporary radio event consisting of a broadcast schedule of 48 hours of non-stop streaming, including live performances, fixed media, and radio artworks specifically composed for the festival by an international community of sound artists. The project explores the boundaries of being simultaneously on air in a physical and virtual space, challenging different radio formats. The festival will be broadcast online from 8 pm on May 22 to 8 pm on May 24 (CEST). There will be live events on Saturday, May 23 at the Institute of Sonology and on Sunday, May 24 at West Den Haag.
On Air - On Site invites the involved artists and the public to reconsider the physical spaces as a context rather than a location and to rethink together a different relationship between communities and experimental radio practice.
The festival takes place online, on FM and on site from 8 pm on May 22 to 8 pm on May 24 (CET). On-site live events on Saturday, May 23 at the Institute of Sonology and on Sunday, May 24 at West Den Haag, along with listening sessions and a panel talk. This year we're happy to introduce something new to our programme: 48 hours of radio art + 6. We'll be closing the festival with a special event at SoundHouse form 6pm on May 24 — a BUG Radio takeover to celebrate our community after the festival.
