When language never fully carries the ability to carry meaning without miscommunication, lines as a surface medium resist that process by looking at a surface to conceptualise what one sees not reads.
“Growing up bilingual between two languages and two writing systems, I use my body to express something other than the body in the bridging of lines and writing, as sound appears in the co-appearance of an image slowly evolving as the instrument surface. Each dot triggers sound. And each dot is just a building block for a line in relation to another line.” C.Fang.
Zeynep Burça Oral, stage name Burchhhha, is a multidisciplinary performance and sound artist. Her practice often aims to center the audience in an uncomfortable space, which pushes them to become an active participant rather than passively taking in the experience. She works with storytelling in order to explore absurdity and chaos. When she isn’t making art, she enjoys making noise, harsh harsh noise.
