Tingyi Jiang is a interdisciplinary artist based in The Hague. She is currently studying at the
ArtScience Interfaculty at the Royal Academy of Art and Conservatory The Hague.
She interested in the idea of performance as a means of engaging with the world. Her works often
composed by different media, material, space and herself to build a system and create certain
situation, self-directing environments, which triggers audience actions. She explores identity,
memory and perception through the relationship of personal everyday life and performativity of
authority.
Tracing ‘Home, Sick Home’
‘Home, Sick Home’ is a project that can be described as a 100-day performance, daily instant
composition, sound research and life practice. Displacement is the modality that this project
operates on, which the sonic space from state apparatus to a private room, from western public
space to eastern music memory. By writing down a score to choreograph her daily life, Tingyi
initiates a new field in between, blending isolated spaces: sonic, geographic, personal and public
together through performativity.
Tracing ‘Home, Sick Home’ is a one-hour instant composition in which Tingyi follows the original
score, tracing back the100 days by digging into sound archives, while also reflecting on the
project and sharing those moments.
