The live performance for ‘On Air - On Site’ deals with themes of the past and its memory in the present. With the electric bass as a sound source, the performance will walk through the abandoned or vital architecture of remembering and forgetting, highlighting sound’s significant ability to mark a point in time that may no longer exist but in our shared or private recollection of it.
Giving the uniqueness of the radio medium another moment of gathering through different spaces creating a collective experience through listening. Bowing, plucking, and stroking the bass guitar to disassemble its sonic elements, and remerge them through digital processing into an imagined memory-scape. The bowed bass iterating in many layers creates the sound of a broken cello ensemble, with shimmering delays on the verge of feedback, moving from powerful drones to delicate harmonic snaps.

Klyl Shifroni

Klyl Shifroni is a sound composer, working with acoustic instruments, field recordings, and digital sound synthesis. Her practice involves playing, recording, audio processing, and performing. Currently, She is studying at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague, researching the intersection between environmental and instrumental sounds.
