Inside the Glass Trap is a live acoustic exploration for inside / prepared piano, inhabiting the sonic world of small, unnamed creatures – their movements, vibrations, and brief silences – existing within a sealed transparent space. “The Greenhouse.” Strings become membranes, the body becomes architecture – amplifying, trapping, and distorting. What lives inside is fragile, adaptive, and strangely persistent. There is no resolution. The creatures do not escape. But they do not disappear either.

I enjoy working and experimenting with close miking and this opportunity is a perfect merge – live experimentation and the search for imaginary soundscapes on site, translated in real time and shared with the listener on air. Coexisting in the emerging sound space.

Darina Žurková

Darina Žurková is a Czech-born composer, performer, pianist and sound artist based in The Hague (NL). Her practice revolves around experimental electroacoustic music, and her work has been presented at festivals and venues across Europe, Indonesia, and the U.S. She is deeply fascinated by exploring imaginary sonic ecosystems and investigating their inner fragilities.
Darina holds a Ph.D. in Composition and Composition Theory, she is a member of the iii (Instrument
Inventors Initiative) workspace and STROOM artists The Hague.
