The work emerges from my Italian-Egyptian identity, from two cultural systems that observe and intersect with one another, yet rarely fully understand each other. This distance is not only personal; it also reflects the present, shaped by the still unresolved tensions between the West and the Middle East. Here, I do not attempt to bridge that gap, I allow it to surface.

Voices rooted in Middle Eastern and Western traditions alternate, overlap, and interrupt one another, never arriving at a shared point of understanding. They do not truly engage in dialogue; they remain in tension, as though speaking languages unable to touch.

Around them, a continuous sonic texture unfolds indifferently, like a flow that neither reacts nor mediates, neither resolves nor reconciles.

Unsettled Echoes is a listening space in which misalignment is not corrected, but made visible. It does not seek synthesis; instead, it exposes the moment in which communication fractures and persists in its inability to be resolved.

A2 Abd El Monim, born Alan Abd El Monim, is an Italian-Egyptian artist and composer. His identity represents a meeting point between two worlds and two profoundly different cultural traditions. On one side, the African, Arabic-speaking heritage, rich in history and spirituality; on the other, the European, Neo-Latin-speaking branch, steeped in modernity and rationalism. It is the fusion of these two cultures that gives rise to a bridge connecting different languages, experiences, and values.

He expresses himself through musical creation, ranging from electronic to purely instrumental music, and through the interdisciplinary practices that bridge sound, performance and visual arts.
