After January 3rd 2026 US attack on Venezuela, my world became one huge barrel of noise. Opinion pieces left and right, friends asking me what I thought, family telling me what they thought, some celebrating, others just trying to get by, communications with the country sporadic. I was overwhelmed and just trying to make sense of what was happening, while just one question seemed the most important: are people ok? This piece is made from an extreme stretching and other deformations of the song Tonada de Luna Llena (Full Moon Song), by the famous Venezuelan singer Simón Díaz. It is an extremely melancholic song with a strange text, maybe it's about death, or about a long-lost love, or just about the feeling of being alone at night while the world sleeps. To me, it's wanting to escape the noise and chaos of the day.

Renán Zelada Cisneros

Renán Zelada Cisneros (b. 1993) is a Dutch-Venezuelan composer currently living in Barcelona, Spain. He studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, and the Amsterdam Conservatoire, in the Netherlands. He collaborates regularly with filmmakers internationally in both fiction and documentary films. His music has been described as discreet and moody, often relying on layers of textures and subtle sound design to underscore difficult concepts or fragile scenes. Together with film scores, Renán also works regularly with soloists, ensembles, as well as acousmatic music, this last one often in collaboration with his sibling Elois. His music has been performed in festivals internationally.
