This work is an ontological exploration using sound as a medium, revolving around three symbolic concepts: memory, water and the womb.
What is memory really? It is not a preserved past, but rather an unstable wave that is constantly being re-constructed in the present. This work entrusts the memory as such a fluctuation to the contours of sound and its ambiguous margins.
Water is not just a physical element, but also a medium that gives form to that which has no form. Here, water becomes a quiet presence that precipitates within the listener, moving between consciousness and the unconscious.
The word “womb” refers to the state of “pre-existence” before birth, a state that has neither words nor form. The acoustic space depicted in this work is a return to that fundamental silence, and it aims to capture the very “presence” that existed before the world was segmented and before sound was born.

KAZUYA ISHIGAMI

KAZUYA ISHIGAMI (b. 1972, Osaka/JAPAN) is a composer, sound designer, sound performer and sound engineer in the field of Electroacoustic/Acousmatic/Post-Acousmatic/Ambient/Noise, etc.
Since 1992 he has created under the name of DARUIN. He began using computers for composition and improvisation in 1994 with the programming language Max/MSP and others.
His pieces have been performed at CCMC (Japan), FUTURA (France), MUSLAB (Mexico), SILENCE (Italy), ICMC (2015_USA/TEXAS), Music From Japan 2020 (USA/NY) among others. He has an independent label, NEUS-318, and has released more than 100 works.
