6 - Dj sniff - Parallel Traces of the Jewel Voice
Parallel Traces of the Jewel Voice by dj sniff is a project that takes inspiration from historical narratives and personal memories constructed around The Jewel Voice Broadcast (Gyokuon Hoso) that took place on August 15 of 1945. Contrary to common belief, Emperor Hirohito did not speak live on air to announce the surrender of Japan on this day. Instead, two lathe-cut discs with his recorded voice were skillfully mixed and played by NHK engineer Shizuto Haruna. Haruna’s proto-DJ/turntablist performance was heard not only in Japan but also throughout the colonized territories in Asia, marking the end of World War II and Japanese rule.
7 - Yoshi Yung-Chih Hsueh_Tseng Po-Hao_He Chen-En - live improvisation during the Sound Worlds Rotation program for the 2024 Taipei Biennial at the Music Room
    https://www.taipeibiennial.org/2023/content/musicroom-03
Experimental improvised music is a social practice. Above adherence to any demarcated set of aesthetic principles, what is valuable is openness and trust. To listen first, and find a way forward together, meeting your contemporary at the threshold of your experience and theirs.
For ten days, the music room becomes a studio and a living room for 10 artists from Taiwan’s diverse experimental sound scenes. They each spend three days on site in trios, building temporary sonic worlds with each other and breaking them back down. The Music Room will function as a testing ground: a space for attempts and failures, for embracing the mess of collective discovery and establishing understanding through action.
8 - Tzu Ning - Every hour and moment
9 - Umi Hsu - Every Floor Has a Different Colour
From the album “Departures / Arrivals”
Departures / Arrivals is an experimental audio memoir that follows my exploration of where memory is held. After having immigrated to the United States as a pre-teen 33 years ago, I return to sites significant to my life in Taiwan: the apartment building I grew up in, walks I took with family, the school I attended, and more.
10 - Beam Splitter - live at Ting Shuo / Hear Say 21/04/2017
11 - Nigel Brown - Selected field recordings: Bamboo
12 - Ya Nung Huang - Under the surface
This work is inspired by the poem "باز باران" (Baaz Baran) by the famous Iranian poet Golchin Gilani (1910-1972). The original collection of poems has become part of textbooks and was later reimagined by subsequent poets into several satirical versions reflecting contemporary society. It also draws from the artist’s field recordings during their travels, as well as an impromptu collaborative piece with a local musician, imagining a 2022 social event in Tehran involving Nika Shakarami.
13 - Cia Himian Li - The Related, Us (SISTERS II)
Treating the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility and the Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center as sites for soundscape exploration, this work builds on the experience of field recording at the wastewater treatment plant in Tainan Science Park and connects it to the cultural and industrial development of the two cities. It reveals their differences in region, culture, and mindset, despite sharing an identical “treatment principle,” similar urban development trajectories, and comparable technological visions. The visuals present to viewers the unique environmental contexts of the City of San Jose, accompanied by sounds that shift dimensions of consciousness, seeking out fundamental emotions that both cities share.

Contingent Snapshot

Contingent Snapshot is a collaborative radio project by the anthropologist Eugenia Seriakov and the interdisciplinary artist Francesco Zedde. Together they organize experimental radio broadcasts based on their site-specific artist residencies. After Nuremberg, Linz, and Tallinn, they are currently planning a broadcast from Tainan/Taiwan, with the support of the residency space Ting Shuo / Hear SayContingent Snapshot explores the facets and sounds of the city and carries them across the globe via radio, both online and on FM. Due to unfortunate circumstances, in order to run the project in person and on site, the artists involved decided to elaborate a remote version of their planned stay in Tainan and to offer a snapshot of a possible moment within their research and sound practice. Their project includes new music, exchange with local musicians and curatorial practice. Within this process, the shorter radio feature presents the space of Ting Shuo / Hear Say, the music of the guests they aim to collaborate with and Tainan soundscapes.
