Jeremi Biziuk (aka kitarumo)
My name is Jeremi Biziuk (he/him, they/them). I’ve been born in Poland, and since roughly 2017 have been living in the Netherlands.
Within my practice, I devote myself to reinventing and synthetically crafting a personal tradition, ritual, which is inspired by the most fundamental elements of pagan practices from Eastern Europe, and translates them through tools and a point of view which is fundamentally mine.
Through my performances, which include sound, costumes, bodily movement and a curated environment, I rediscover and reinvent a ritualistic tradition from the little fragments available. By focusing my practice on mostly lost pagan traditions and my contemporary recreation of their core experience, I aim to provide new material, not only in the momentary happening, but also in the foto, video and sound documentation which comes after.
The focus of my practice is on the contrast and complementing nature of synthetic and organic materials, sounds and techniques. I am mostly driven by the usage of sound within live settings, generated through DIY methods, tools and open source knowledge. A communal practice not tied to a specific place, but influenced by my economic, social and personal circumstances. Using my costumes and wardrobe to free myself of the worry of perception, I encourage myself to improvise a complex audio-visual experience, crafting a personal narrative loosely based on my heritage and contemporary struggle.
