Paula Montecinos Oliva
Paula Montecinos Oliva (CL) is transdisciplinary artist and researcher from Chile, based in Amsterdam. Paula works in the fields of sound and performative arts, interrogates the materiality of listening, and movement through an embodied, decolonial, and techno-feminist approach. She is interest in how sound and vibrations shape spaces and experiences. Her work interweaves choreography, radio art, experimental vocals, DIY live electronics, digital-analog technologies, delving into themes of agency, memories, and collectivity.
Her works navigate hybrid formats of sonic choreographies, radiophonic concerts, sonic readings and installations, linking listening to languages, bodies and vibrations, as tools relationality, perceptual re-organization and collective transformation.
Her work has been presented internationally in festivals, residencies and venues including: FLAM Amsterdam, transmediale residency, (Berlin), IDlab (Amsterdam), CBK (Amsterdam), Blob Together (Vienna), HKW (Berlin), Q-02 (Brussels), Sonic Matter Festival (Zurich), Sonic Acts – Night Air (Amsterdam), ICK (Amsterdam), Festival Asmtria, (Perú), Cometogether#4 (Amsterdam) Juli Dans – (Amsterdam) Danzalborde Festival (Valparaíso), Spain Cultural Center, Parque Metropolitano, (Santiago de Chile), Spektrum, (Berlin), among others.
She also co-organize and facilitates together with Papaya Kuir collective, the project Somatic Laboratory – Latinx Memories, approaching touch, voice and listening as the regenerative experiences whitin latinx migrational contexts.
