Sonic Feminist Fabulations (SFF) is a live radio performance that explores the poetics and politics of displacement and diasporic (ecological) memories. Conceived as a long-form research platform, it responds to radio’s unique ability to stretch and compress spacetime, connecting with invisible listeners across perception thresholds. Through live performances, experimental electronic music, archival recordings, and digital/analog media interplay, SFF bridges proximity and distance, offering vibrational experiences for both in-situ and remote audiences.
For this upcoming edition of Onsite- OnAir Festival, I would like to propose a live electronics performance that invites us to engage with the spatial, affective and material conditions of listening through a site-responsive sonic installation/sculptural format. By working with electromagnetic fields, radio waves, organic materials, and bodily memory, I will explore how the haptic-acoustic qualities of sound can contribute to reorient reception and transmission as a relational and non-linear embodied act.
Following physical responses to noise and altered spatial perception, this performance explores sound as a tangible, somatic, and speculative form, expanding into sonic-political imagination & facilitating an exchange between cellular and non-cellular bodies. It raises questions such as: What does it mean for resonant materials to exist in a flesh-to-flesh (membranic) relationship? How do these intra-actions reshape perception, presence, and agency? And how sonic-spatial imagination can extend into the creation of social sculptures that influence collective listening and emancipatory knowledge?

Paula Montecinos Oliva

Paula Montecinos Oliva (CL) is transdisciplinary artist and researcher from Chile, based in Amsterdam. Paula works in the fields of sound and performative arts, interrogates the materiality of listening, and movement through an embodied, decolonial, and techno-feminist approach. She is interest in how sound and vibrations shape spaces and experiences. Her work interweaves choreography, radio art, experimental vocals, DIY live electronics, digital-analog technologies, delving into themes of agency, memories, and collectivity.

Her works navigate hybrid formats of sonic choreographies, radiophonic concerts, sonic readings and installations, linking listening to languages, bodies and vibrations, as tools relationality, perceptual re-organization and collective transformation.

Her work has been presented internationally in festivals, residencies and venues including: FLAM Amsterdam, transmediale residency, (Berlin), IDlab (Amsterdam), CBK (Amsterdam), Blob Together (Vienna), HKW (Berlin), Q-02 (Brussels), Sonic Matter Festival (Zurich), Sonic Acts – Night Air (Amsterdam), ICK (Amsterdam), Festival Asmtria, (Perú), Cometogether#4 (Amsterdam) Juli Dans – (Amsterdam) Danzalborde Festival (Valparaíso), Spain Cultural Center, Parque Metropolitano, (Santiago de Chile), Spektrum, (Berlin), among others.

She also co-organize and facilitates together with Papaya Kuir collective, the project Somatic Laboratory – Latinx Memories, approaching touch, voice and listening as the regenerative experiences whitin latinx migrational contexts.
