Margherita Brillada
Margherita Brillada is a sound artist and radio maker based in The Hague. By re-thinking radio as a compositional tool, her artistic practice attempts to articulate a specific “radio poetics” according to the sonic dimension intrinsic to the medium. Her artistic practice is socially and politically engaged, as seen through Margherita’s close collaborations with community radio projects that are local, alternative, non-profit, independent, and experimental. Her exploration of the socio-political role and power of radio, its direct contact with the public, and the ability to “connect communities” highlights her artistic research focus.
With an emphasis on practice-oriented artistic research, On Air – On Site is a project aimed at nurturing the development of an experimental community radio station based in The Hague: BUG Radio. Margherita conceived this initiative, recognising the sociological dimension of radio as a public-social space for artistic engagement and community connection.
