Starting from the sounds recorded on the lakeside of the town where I was born, I imagined what the soundscape will be in the future. These natural recordings serve as the foundation of the piece, capturing the subtle interplay between water, wind, and foliage—elements that have shaped my auditory memory.
As the composition unfolds, these familiar sounds gradually transform. Digital manipulations deconstruct and reassemble the original recordings, introducing synthetic textures that blur the boundary between the organic and the artificial. The piece suggests an evolving soundscape, where nature and technology intertwine, raising questions about the future of our acoustic environment.
Through spectral processing, granulation, and dynamic spatialization, I explore the contrast between the real and the imagined, the past and the possible future. The rustling of leaves and the gentle lapping of water morph into shimmering harmonics and fragmented echoes, creating a multilayered sonic landscape that oscillates between serenity and disruption.
The title FOLIAGE evokes both permanence and fragility—the resilience of nature and its vulnerability to change. In a world increasingly shaped by human intervention, will future generations recognize the sounds that defined our present? Or will they perceive them only through digital echoes and reconstructed memories?
FOLIAGE is an invitation to listen carefully, to reflect on the transformation of soundscapes over time, and to consider the delicate balance between preservation and evolution in our relationship with the auditory world.
