Nico Hemmer (The Netherlands, Hezingen 1964), has been educated in electronic music at the
Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. He is mainly self-taught in
the field of audiovisual art after joining video workshops with Babeth Vanloo at the Free
Academy, also The Hague.

For years, in addition to his working life in IT, he has been active as a musician,
classical singer and composer, always seeking his own and different sound and signature.
His music, lyrics and videos are generally concise and succinct, without digressions in
search of a degree of beauty that makes everything else superfluous. Shaping and
transforming, transcending and aggregating, characterize his attitude, function and
primary activity.

Recently, Nico has founded his own video-art and music studio and production company,
Luminescent Productions. Under this production company, he releases his work as a video
artist, composer and singer-songwriter (under the name Transverse). In his identity of
video artist he participates in the artists collective “Drijvend Staal”(= floating
steel).

This year’s projects will include two more videos from the Waves cycle, an EP by
Transverse with 6 new songs and an overture and 1st aria from a concert opera on the life
and work of Ayn Rand.
