Circular Void is the project of Karelian sound artist and musician Andrey. Having a diverse background in sound design, music production, and field recording, he delves into a blend of sound art and experimental music. Andrey explores the sonic expression of the wide range of acoustic and electronic instruments, with focus on Finno-Karelian stringed bowed lyre “bass talharpa” (or jouhikko) through amplifiers combined with analog synthesis. His immersive compositions push the boundaries of artistic expression in avant-folk performances resulting in drone metal textures and dark ambient soundscapes. In early 2022, he founded Highland Sound studio for producing experimental music and sound art, later relocated to Tbilisi, Georgia. He has established a notable presence within the artistic community, participating in charitable releases, collaborative projects and curating the Highland Sound platform, an initiative dedicated to supporting emerging talented artists in exile.
