Frederico Pessoa
Frederico Pessoa is a musician and sound artist, holding a master’s and doctoral degree
in arts from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He has been working on the
reappropriation of various utensils and their transformation into aesthetic-sonorous
objects, as well as collecting sounds and images from everyday events and redefining
them in sound pieces, audiovisual works, and multimedia performances. His recent works
delve into contemporary political issues through sound, such as the relationships between
humans and non-humans, mining, the silencing of incarcerated populations, police
repression, among other similar themes. Additionally, he has been writing texts at the
intersection of literature and sociological analysis of listening, aiming to explore, through
words, the mobilization possibilities that sound creates.
