This work revolves around performative writing, poetry, sound pieces, installations, and radio art. It brings together performance, recorded sounds, and live experimentation.

In this piece, I am creating a sound piece composed of my recorded poems and a patchwork of sound textures. Using a vintage tape recorder, I transfer my audio pieces containing my poems and more abstract sounds onto magnetic tape, then manipulate it live (rewinding, fast-forwarding, stopping abruptly, layering fragments) creating a shifting landscape of voices, sound, words and rhythms.

During the performance, I use my live voice, interacting with the recorded material, answering it, contradicting it, prolonging it. This dialogue between live and recorded voice opens up a space for improvisation, rupture, and unexpected composition.

Garance Buxtorf

Garance Buxtorf (they/them in writing, he/him in speech) is a 26-year-old poet, performer, and sculptor whose work revolves around the practice of poetic writing in the form of performances and sound installations. Their work engages with sexuality, nocturnal life, party culture, non-binarity, friendship, and urban landscapes. After completing a master’s degree at the École de Recherche Graphique (ERG) in Brussels, Garance Buxtorf is currently working on a poetry collection and performances, and is also involved with the experimental Radio collective P-Node.
