Zael Ortega
Zael Ortega is a philosopher and sound creator with 25 years of experience in the field of sound and radio creation. He graduated from the College of Philosophy, specializing in Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art, at the Autonomous University of Puebla (Mexico). He has received four awards from the International Radio Biennial and from Radio UNAM (Mexico). His radio works have been presented on more than fifty radio stations (FM/Web) around the world specializing in radio art.
His electroacoustic, sound, and radio works have been presented in fourteen countries. He has received numerous commissions and assignments from various institutions to create soundscapes
and works of electroacoustic music, sound art, and radio art. He has been a two-time recipient of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts of Mexico. He was awarded a prize by the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture of Puebla (Mexico) for his project “Learning to Listen: Sound Creation on Original Poetry”, which has been presented in eight countries around the world. He recently received an award from the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico through the National
Center for the Arts (CENART) and the Chapultepec, Nature and Culture Project for his project “Eco- Listening: Sound Creation for an Ethics of Caring for Life”, which has been presented in five countries around the world. He is the creator and producer of “Electroacoustic Arts”, the first and only radio program in Puebla (Mexico) completely dedicated to experimental sound and radio creation, which is currently 25 years old and on the air for 20 years on Radio Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (Mexico).
