Blue Unguent
Blue Unguent is an Edinburgh-based artist and musician exploring sound through synthesis, found recordings, and electronic manipulation. Their work embraces imperfection—live-mixed, minimally processed, and shaped in real time. Pieces exist as they were captured, an unfiltered document of experimentation.
Elements such as found home cassette tapes play a central role in their process—recordings of childhood improvisations over library recordings, degraded audio fragments, and skewed samples repurposed into new sonic forms. These elements, combined with textural synthesis and drone, create layered compositions that feel both familiar and alien.
Fictional narratives underpin Blue Unguent’s projects, constructing alternate histories, speculative technologies, or imagined transmissions to frame the sonic explorations. These narratives blur the boundaries between reality and invention, shaping how the work is perceived while remaining open to interpretation.
This release is the second in an ongoing series of improvised sound and noise explorations, a continued search for moments where chance, memory, and fiction converge.
