You and I, or we, go into the forest. What do you hear there? Is anything still there? Can we still find traces of the past? They said the forest would die. Today they say the entire planet is dying. Where were we? What did we do? Are these too many questions for you? Then look back, look behind these trees. There, you will find my forest, and ours. Listen to its sounds, and you will
find yours.
As a mirror to the world, the play compresses and takes a broad look at a possible future. Starting out with two intertwining stories that lead the listener into and out of the forest, the radio play’s next section continues with the seas and oceans of our home planet, reclaiming the mainland. We are moving into a maritime culture. The play tries to sense this possible future, both acoustically and in terms of textual content. When it comes to sound realisation, the question arises as to how we can capture decay and destruction acoustically; field recordings, feedback and various objects and musical instruments are used in a composed sound collage. The plot of the play is fictitious and at times surreal and phantasmatic. As in fantastic literature, ambivalences are presented. What will it look like when the sea levels on our planet Earth continue to rise? The ambivalence of the sea, from which the human species emerged, permeates this short radio play. It reflects our difficult relationship with nature and the wilderness.
