Hi I'm Joel Englund, Stockholm, 1983 an multidisciplinary artist within the fields of sound and spaces. Through producing, performances and as a DJ. I'm based in between an isolated cabin north of Stockholm Sweden and the noisy scene of Bilbao, Spain. Moving between the vulnerable intimate needs of affection and sensuality and need for fast rhythms and anonymous fog filled dark basements.
My artistic practice revolves around emotions in memories through sound and space that follows the body, a shared building of a platform or at least a fragile scaffolding to mediate and verbalize situations of intangible passages, through an opening of small rifts with a mixture of sound, music, live and improvised experiments in specific sites. A process for dealing with the past and healing for the future in short moments of now.
Through a romance for sound and music related to participation I started to voice myself through the function of a DJ, I understood the role as a mediator, and met a point where my backgrounds started to traverse. Where sounds are not isolated islands but related into spaces and shared and created by its listeners ears and body movement.
In a practice opening rifts passing through physical and fictional sites, by construction, collapsing and combining the symbiosis between sound and space. In a search for emotional textures creating landscapes for growing vines of slowfast ambient bass euphoric memories.
