Flowers/Ghosts&Echoes feat. Catherine Ostraya
Flowers/Ghosts&Echoes is an audio-visual project based in The Hague, The Netherlands. It is a project where the audio world and the visual world are in constant conversation with each other, resulting in a deeply immersive experience, where the visual component is an equal partner to the music and space, in a complex yet meditative push and pull. Sonically, the improvising guitar duo of Gonçalo Oliveira and James A.-McEwan unfolds slow-moving instrumental landscapes of drones, post-rock ambience, noise-inflected textures, and post-minimalist repetition. For this performance, they perform alongside frequent collaborator Catherine Ostraya, a Den Haag-based visual artist whose work explores a space between performance and video. For this performance she will be presenting live analogue visuals created with liquids and an overhead projector. Drawing inspiration from her travels across the globe, she creates abstract visual performances that are fluid, mesmerising, and ephemeral.
